ESPANA winter 2015/2016 90 days plus!
There is a "UK Residence Card" requirement for stays of more than 90 days - not hear of this before can anyone enlighten me and point me in the right direction??

Hi
The rule is in all EU countries is that you can stay for 3 months without a permit, after which time you have to request permission to stay from the local immigration police . It's the same for any EU visitor. You can leave for 3 months and then re-enter for another 3 months.
Cheers

Bit more info here. I wonder how many people bother and what checks are made.

Hi
I suspect some folk actually ignore the rules when staying over winter in Spain. Should you wish to ignore the 3-month rule, you MAY get a reprimand. It is unlikely, but it would be down to the local immigration police's discretion. You must also remember that the police WILL know if you are staying, as it is a requirement that you register with the local police within a few days of your arrival, and this is often done for you as a courtesy by the hotel when they take your passport.
Having said that, Spain is a civilised country where it's highly unlikely that you'll get problems at all.
Cheers
