Drivers door comes out very slightly at top

Post by conmai » Tue Aug 05, 2014 11:39 pm

Hi all, my new bongos driver door comes out very slightly at the top, enough to make quite a noise when driving, basically I can get my finger between the door and chassis, this isn't something I can do on the passenger side, and ideas on how this can be pushed in or are there any fittings that may be lose I should be checking, from the outside it's hardly noticeable!

Bongo doors are the size of elephant's ears and unfortunately can distort the door frame where they are hinged if caught by a strong gust of wind.

It may need shimming or forcing back into shape by putting a small block of wood in the hinge and leaning on the door. (disclaimer: don't try that without thinking long and hard about which way it will need to go)

That's interesting - I remember shortly after we got ours 3 years back thinking it must have been in a smash because we had the same problem on the motorway. However, I cant recall it happening since ..... :-k

Mine is the same, not enough to make a noise all the time but when a truck goes by at speed, the gap opens noticeably!

My old one was very much like that, my current one less so but still a bit. The doors don't hold their shape very well long term it seems. I never tried to do anything about it though...

the A post pressing is very thin and is distorted easy. lump of 3x2 usually sorts it, or if its the other way remove the door and push in the top hinge area, they sometimes pop/buckle in.
