How does Fiamma work with fig of 8's?

Post by Dr Fingers » Fri Jul 04, 2014 9:47 pm

Thinking of a Fiamma F45 wind out awning, in addition to our Vango driveaway awning, but puzzled as to how to keep the rain out..

Drive away awning currently fits via figure of 8's on to the guttering, nice and easy, forms water tight seal with additional easily removable Kador strip. I see the Fiamma has a channel on its casing to which I could attach the fig 8 drive away awning, but surely there will be a gap 'behind' the Fiamma where rain will get through via the now exposed guttering? Rain dripping down just outside the side door would be a complete no-no.

Confused, can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks

We have an Omnistor but it's more or less the same as the Fiamma and it's never been an issue - it depends how your Fiamma is mounted on the van, ours is clamped to the gutter. On the Omnistor there's a groove on the top of the casing where you could fit one of the below rain-guards, several widths available depending on how much gap you need to fill...

Then on the Omnistor (I assume the Fiamma is similar) there's another groove on the free edge of the wind-out bit. That enables you to connect your driveaway awning with the windout awning either extended or retracted, via a figure-8 and a gusset strip....

Note that on the Omnistor, Fiamma probably the same, you need the gusset with different sized beads as the groove in the awning is smaller than a figure-8. This type of gusset is called a Safari-Kador....
