Hi all,
I am after some help, and would be grateful for any help and advice.
Our bongo is on 17" rims, as he was when we bought him, but all 4 tyres are in desperate need of replacement and are on the limit, a real must before out next trip away in a couple of weeks!
the tyres on it currently are far too big in my opinion, so are wanting to put something a bit smaller on, and i also want to check what load rating i should be using as I'm not sure the ones on it are right! Also speedo is so far out, as is the milage!!!
What does anyone who runs 17" use? any size and tyre recommendations? He is 4x4 and currently running : 235 x 65 x 17 105H
Thanks in advance for any advice
Jodie

Re: 17" tyres advice needed
I have some 17's to go on ours, not bought tyres yet but I have been looking at 225/50/17 98w xl also considering 215/55/17 98w xl, I think the 215/55 are very very slightly larger rolling radius but perhaps someone who is currently running 17's can advise us both.

I used 225/55x17 - very slightly larger than standard, but they made the speedo a bit more accurate. Load rating should be a minimum of 96, if using the same size all round - at least you can then fit them to the front or rear.

225 / 65s are way too big.
We ran with the fitted 225 / 50 R17 when we got our Bongo (Yokohomas) but changed to 225 / 55 R17 from Nankang- the Surpax SP 5 as these are suv tyres and rated at 101. We go off road a bit.
The 225 / 50s are the same overall diameter as standard, the 55s are 3% bigger which doesn't sound much but you can see the difference and, every now and again, feel it. You feel just a slight delay when the auto box changes into top gear. The Bongo isn't quite revving enough to pull the gear and takes a short time to build up the revs to pull cleanly.
We prefer the 55s
Spare tyre sizes for the 225 / 50 if you have a standard 15" spare is 195 / 70 R15 and, for the 55s, 215 / 70 R15
