reverse gear

Post by Baz and Helen » Fri Feb 14, 2014 3:25 pm

Hi hope someone can give me some advice, went out in the bongo today everything seemed to be running fine but when I went to reversed it wouldent do it. I had reversed earlier and it was fine, but now it wont go backwards. I wonder could it be something simple or am I looking at a new gearbox. Would be grateful for any advice
many thanks

Did the selector move to the R position, then Bongy not move, or would the selector not engage?

Edit: Have you checked the gearbox oil level?
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

Hi
Are you positive that the cable moved the gearbox into Reverse at the box end?
If you're sure, check out the information on "solenoid pack" in the search facility...I' no expert on auto boxes, so I can't say whether the solenoid pack controls reverse....if it does, I believe it's not a hard job, and won't cost too much....here's hoping [-o<

Hi checked that the reverse gear was engaging and it was. then tried to reverse and it went backwards, but then tried again it wouldent do it. I have looked underneath and there is a leak on the return pipe to the gearbox. Do you think this would stop it reversing.
Any ideas would be appreciated
thanks baz

Hi
You might have answered your own query!...see if you can cobble a temporary repair to the pipe, then if it works, get a new one!
Cheers
