Lecht visit

I am tihnking of heading up to the Lecht tonight with the kids.

Can anyone recommend the best place to stay ? It will be our first winter overnight so I am thinking an electric hook up is essential for our oil filled heater.

I am a wee bit worried if I will get to the ski centre okay in the bongo, it is only 2WD.

Any thoughts welcome.

Thanks, just found out Alford camp site closed until 31 March, guessing others will be the same so think the overnighter could be canned

If it takes you longer than you thought it would to get there, because of the snow, then you'd be entitled to pull over in any suitable layby and sleep it out until the following day. Who needs heaters...! Just take a couple of duvets and a thermos of hot chocolate.

Braemar Camping & Caravan site is open, but that is better for Glenshee rather than Lecht.

On past experience it does not mater if you have snow chains or not. Years ago I set out in a Saab fitted with snow chains for Gleeshee with some locals from Braemar as my passengers. The snow gates were closed and they would not let us through to ski, snow chains or not. - Health & Safety rides again.
