Brake caliper?

Post by Stargazer » Sun Sep 22, 2013 2:53 pm

After getting stranded in Wales due to brake failure I am now safety back home and looking to get the various parts to fix my problem....Brake discs, pads etc were no issue but the garage in Wales was unable to source a Brake caliper? (hence why we were stranded! Thanks to the AA we finally got home!!) The issue is on the passenger side rear, any advice on this is very much appreciated..Thanks. :D

Unless you are doing the job yourself .. it is generally advisable to let the Garage source the parts ..

If there is any problems then the onus is on them to rectify it ...

Discount Trucks near Newbury have a good stock of checked second hand parts. They just refurbished my brakes with a replacement master cylinder amongst other bits. They do send parts out on request or do supply and fit. Highly recommended for Bongo expertise.

How much do they charge for a Refurbished Master Cylinder.

Answer no idea. I paid just under £200 for the whole job. Not the first replacement part I have had from them and all have been perfect. Far more reliable than any old bit off eBay.

What was the problem with the rear caliper? You can get a service kit to change all the seals and its only got a single piston to worry about. I've recently fitted new pads and discs, as well as freshened up the calipers. Not too tricky if you are fairly handy with the spanners.

The piston is broken. I am hoping to buy the parts myself and get a mechanic friend of mine to do the work. I tried BongoBits with no luck but I found Madzabongo.com do the caliper for around £160. E-bay is still cheapest.
Cheers for the advice
