Haydn has sold thousands of his so for piece of mind I would only fit his, his also has a built in self test to you are certain its working every time you start the engine.

Thanks winchman for your expert advice. - I am a keen believer in if it ant broke don't fix it, but feel in this case I would kick myself if I cooked my engine so I have now bit the bullet and ordered a Haydn unit. - Will give me peace of mind.though.- Hope it's easy to fit.

I was thinking of the motor sport version - used in motor sport cars to indicate coolant is present in the top hose - has anyone tried this one?

I am sure some one with more experience will correct me if I a wrong but I feel if you had no coolant in the top hose it would be too late and the head will be damaged?

If the results are as you say severe damaged engines I very much doubt that the motor sport community would be prepared to invest in a device that shuts the gate after the horse has bolted lol
