another newbie with coolant issues!

Post by bert977 » Sun Sep 01, 2013 12:59 pm

lords, ladies and gentlemen of bongo land,
i am yet another newbie whose bongo has decided to pour its coolant all over my drive! i think it is from the water pump as the front of the block is wet and it seems to be coming from the 6 o'clock position on the water pump. the bongo is under warranty from the "garage" i bought it from so it will be going back to get sorted.
what i was after is some advice on what to check during/afterwards. obviously, the ability to hold water is the first but after going through the posts already put up, this may cause deeper issues so anything i can get them to check at the same time, would be time saved.
many thanks in advance!

Don,t drive it even a meter until you have had it fixed and properly bled by a bongo friendly garage.
Ignor this warning at your own peril.

the water pump seems to be one of those failures which is isolated, they just fail through age, while the system is down though i would flush the system, fit a new gen mazda thermostat, and refill with new anti freeze, maybe do a thorough visual check of the hoses and replace any suspect ones.
