Coolant system bleed procedure
I hope this isn't too stupid a question but as there are several fact sheets giving alternative methods of bleeding the system, does this mean that the official procedure in the Mazda handbook and manual doesn't work?

No, just means folk have come up with some variations. The 'see saw' method seems to be a popular alternative. I made my own bleeding kit using a valve, pump and reservoir, so there's plenty of options.

There's quite a bit of info here: http://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/view ... lit=Washer. I've made a few tweaks to it by fitting a switch for each motor so I've got better control of the flow, but it's basically working as the original prototype. When I get some time, I plan to make another smaller version which I can carry in the van.
