Making your water containers leak proof

Post by MarcT77 » Sun Sep 30, 2012 6:41 pm

So I got my rear side kitchen practically sorted now except figuring out how
to keep the water in the 10l containers from slopping out the top.

I bought some flexible plastic collar things at Go Outdoors in Wigan today
that slide over the pipes and pump wiring, but cant figure out how to
secure them to the opening of the containers, tried rubber bands, nowhere near strong enough.
So what do you guys do ?

Also need a good way to secure both containers and the gas bottle, again to stop them crashing about
when driving,I thought about bungee straps....any good ?

How about reuseable cable ties for the water containers?

With regards to securing them, I'm not sure what they're called but they're made from webbing so not stretchy like bungees, with a pressure buckle to secure. You can screw these into your units with a screw and large washer. You can then unhook them to change bottles then resecure when you want. Look in somewhere like halfords, they're used for strapping on roof racks.

Sounds like a plan,I know the stuff you are talking about,as for the cable ties,I'll look into
those as well.

Before anyone says it,Yes I know I could just pull the tubes out and screw the lids back on the containers
but that to me at least kinda defeats the object....

If you have a Home Bargain near you, I got some genuine Velcro straps, some just plain and some with a fixing lug at one end, I have used them for all sorts in the Bongo.
