Hi I got my rail from a local motorhome repairer, who actually gave it to me for free as it was an offcut. They gave me 2 bits one which is spare if you want it but it is only about 1.8m long. I fixed mine to the roof with self tapping screws as well as sealer.

Have you thought of Sikaflex or Tiger Seal? I'd still put in a couple of self tappers for a belts and braces approach.

I was going to seal it withy a non setting mastic.
I have some proper brackets for a Fiammia awning that I was going to adapt to take a Caravanstore, but just cant decide what would look best

Still on with this, can anyone supply pics of how the caravan store side blocker panels fit on and how they attach to the van side.
I have bought some side panels but they are too big so may need to be cut down. There are also some poles which dont seem to fit properly.

Check out Ebay. There are sometimes bargains to be had on there. Use fatfingers.com it will pick up listings with spelling errors.

Also you could consider using (don't laugh ) Shower curtains with the hooks built in. They are a fiver at Instore and clip on to the Rafter really well. They are also weighted at the bottom. Add a few rings say four rows of 5 upwards and they are your pegging points. Saves £75 of anyones money.

Rubbish picture(off ebay) but these are the sides I bought, they are too tall as they are meant for the side of a caravan, and a bit too long even though the fiamma site says they are the right extension. They have a thick sponge section at the van side but I am puzzled how it would attach to the van. I hope I can do something with them as they are good quality. Any ideas welcome.

Looks like they are off a caravan porch awning if they have pads on the side.They butt up to the caravan wall.
Nip to a caravan accessory place that sells awnings,they usually have some set up,on display and have a gander how they fit,youll probably be able to adapt,as long as they fit the top of your awning

I am looking to buy a Caravan Store Awning now but I.mm finding it very confusing.

I want the rail under the AFT so doess that limit me to a 2.55 or can I still get a 2.8?

Presumably it is the base model Caravanstore awning that everyone is talking about?
I just nearly bought a zip privacy room but I see that the awning to fit it is not listed by Fiamm (2.55) and they are 6oo Quid anyway!!!

Are the side and front blockers stormproof, we tend to use the awning for cooking and storage and to sit in?

If you look on the Fiamma website and look at caravan awnings rather than motorhome awnings you can see picks. It is basically an awning in a bag that hangs off a caravan type awning rail which you can fis directly to the roof.

I believe it is cheaper than the wind out ones, I don't know much about them, I don't even know how you wind them out!

Here is what I fitted, the 255 version.

Remove the original 3 hooks and fit an awning rail under the AFT using self tappers and some kind of bonding/sealing stuff, I used Sikaflex.
The awning bag just slides onto the rail. I looked at the 2.8 but thought it may be a bit long as the roof curves at the front. The 2.55 is big enough as it comes out quite far. I got some sides and front off ebay and modified them to fit and it is weather proof.
To wind it out you just undo the zip and roll it out. The legs are stored in the tube. I can do it easily by myself but is easier with 2. Takes about 5 mins to set up inc. putting the sides on. I can take more pics at the weekend if required.

Thanks, that is what I'll aim for! It looks just what I'm after. I measuerd mine earlier tonight and ruled out the 2.8/ Of course a box awning that size would fit but I wouldn't use it enough to justify one of those and I would take the bag off in the winter.

Cheers, a picture of your rail would be good, please. I was thinking of using blind sealed pop rivets, as used by commercial body builders, at one time I never used any other type.

I looked for some pics of rail but can't find them, will take some more at weekend.
Rivets may work, but I couldn't get the end of the rivet gun through the gap of the rail so I used small self tappers instead. My rail is just a channel but you can get it with a lip along one edge which would rivet ok.
