Split Charging Systems.

I have read a good few comments regarding batteries and split charging on this forum.

I have two [New]rather large batteries in my Bongo and no split charger.

However, each is fitted with a cut off switch and either will quite happily start the Bongo.

When parked up and using battery power I just switch of the earth to one or other of the batteries. Thus far I have experience no adverse effects of following this process.

Furthermore, I use the switches as an additional basic anti theft device.....along with a covert fuel pump cut off switch.

Well the question is this, why bother with the split charger?

Similar to what I had and it worked fine - just make sure to turn the switch on so that battery is recharged by the alternator - something I occasionally forgot

You can buy a VSR for about £10.00 its well worth it.Most of these vehicles being automatic can cause a problem starting with a flat battery.It happened to me once.it wont happen again, its better than relying on the old memory cells

MMMMmmmm ...memory cells...are they the same as lead acid cells?....if so , how do I charge my memory up???

No need for a VSR, as one battery was always fully charged for starting. It was only the second battery, used as a leisure battery, that was drained and needed charging.
