Bongo Bash Auction
For the past couple of years I've run an auction at the bash with the profits going to charity. Over the 2 auctions I think we've raised over £700 for good causes and provided a bit of entertainment on the Sunday morning before the AGM.
Time constraints and the cost of attending the bash for just a day means that I won't be coming to the bash this year.
I believe Ian has set aside time on Sunday morning in the main marquee this year.
Do we have a volunteer/volunteers willing to take on running the auction? I'll be happy to give guidance by pm.
If not how about a 'bring & buy' of bongo and camping gear instead?
cheers

Come on harry it wont be the same.
And i have got that £5 for you for sending my trainers back and a bottle to auction or drink?
I am sure ian could up the £1 ticket fee to £2 to help cover some of your costs
And i will be lonely next to the animal pen if you dont come

I love cheese!
Re: Bongo Bash Auction
Perhaps if we do it as a bring-and-buy sale, with 20% of proceeds going to charity?

im trying to work on chell as she has done the admin for harry for the last 2 years , giving out bidding numbers etc on the day. so she knows how it should work. (phone call from ian at this point, and some facebook chat from the girls).
i think that any other fellers would make a right hash of this so maybe the girls should take charge of this this time, cat could be the ann aston of the bongo world (google her ).
then again my mrs would ignore my bids and i would come away empty handed
how would the bring and buy work ian ? ------ fixed priced items?.
Re: Bongo Bash Auction
Not too sure if this would work. But perhaps people bring their items to the Marquee on Sunday morning (10.00 deadline) with their goods already priced up. Prices must be in denominations 0f £5 so we don't have to worry about change. Goods are then put on display. Sellers can either stay put (recommended) or leave stuff unattended. If using this latter approach, they need to leave a mobile phone number with the organiser/volunteer who will also take payment. All payment will have 10% deducted to go to a charitable cause.Northern Bongolow wrote:how would the bring and buy work ian ? ------ fixed priced items?.
Will that work?

Re: Bongo Bash Auction
it would work ian but what if 3 peeps want the same thing/item, there would need to be an opening time set, then is it first to grab it gets it. (FIGHT) and as the charity thing is on a percentage of selling price
maybe another way would be a silent auction.
item left on table with a starting price, then place a piece of paper on it, whoever wants to bid to the next level signs his or her member no, or name and bid, up to a given time, then the last name on the sheet pays the price it has reached.
charge a price to bid, say a pound or two, then a percentage to charity etc.
i will do this for you ian as long as someone helps out,and the viewing period isnt too long, and im not liable for any thefts, damage, breakages,---------------------------------hang on this is going to need a contract.
gotta get rid of my crap-------------sorry, rare bongo items soon.
