bongo fitted with manual window blinds

Post by mentaliss » Fri Feb 10, 2012 7:14 pm

does the wiring harness running from the front to the back behind the interior panels have the connections for electric operating blinds even though manual blinds are fitted?

I had the opportunity to buy some electric blinds hoping to fit them into my bongo, I had all the panels off and the roof panels, NOTHING [-X , no plugs, nothing to wire into, to fit the electric blinds onto.
Looks like if it wasn't an option the same as leccy folding mirrors (tried that as well) then the wiring loom does not have the connections fitted.(on my 96 bongo).
Lost without my Bongo.

There are so many specs on Bongos it's probably best to take a panel off and check. Mine has powered blinds and folding mirrors, but had no rear ciggie lighter fitted. Unusual as the ciggie lighter is on all but the bottom spec. The wireing was there though to add one. The interior is also fairly low rent, despite a lot of electrical fancies and a powered sunroof.

Some are a basic spec all over, others have items taken off or added at the original owners choice. For these it was probably easier to fit the full wireing.

The diagram with all the wiring looms is shown below;

Its likely that the main F, R & IN2 wiring looms will have the wires present, but you won't have the 6 switches (two on the front console and 4 individual switches by the blinds) or the looms to them present, that's going to mean stripping just about all the panels out on both sides and finding the relevant switches to go in the mouldings and then making up your own looms and finding relevant connectors! It would be easier to find someone breaking a Bongo which had powered blinds, and then grabbing the relevant bits from that, I think I would want to visit said bongo for breaking and extract them myself that way I would be fully aware ( and take photo's) of where the connectors are located rather than having to find them the hard way!

Just noticed that your Bongo is year 2000, I doubt that the diagrams are significantly different but the manuals that are available only cover up to 1999 ..... more reason to find a breaking Bongo and strip the bits yourself!
