Cant stop engine over-reving
Coming home from work yesterday I was coming down hill towards an Island went round the island when suddenly the revs shot up to 4,500 RPM luckily i managed to pull into a side road and switch off. Checked accelerator cable ok, tubo had not jammed, started engine again but still reving high. AA came rechecked it came to the conclusion that the FIP had jammed towed home. HELP Any ideas on this problem
Re: Cant stop engine over-reving
What engine does it have?
If it is a TD, then an internal oil leak in the turbo can cause the engine to run away. It happens when the oil is ingested and combusts, fueling the engine.
Just a possibility.

Check the sump level?
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Hi ges,
It certainly sounds like the IP,have you had any work done to the engine recently.?
Cheers.

If you managed this, then it's unlikely to be turbo or piston-ring oil bypass. Does sound like a pump issue.i managed to pull into a side road and switch off

Managed to get the Bongo back on the road, valve and shaft broken inside the fuel injector pump, Gee deisels in Hucknall rebuilt the injector pump and the Bongo is now running better than ever.
