Re: Engine Temperature sender
you want the 2 pin sender/fan switch (mounted above the starter) - http://www.mazdabongo.com/display.products.php?pId=545
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

No worries , make sure you know how to bleed it ok if you're doing it yourself. New (genuine) thermostat would be a good idea too if it's not been replaced already, AVA stock them too, be worth checking they're genuine, if not, the club shop sell em.
Hope you guys are doing ok other than the head going.

Replaced, water pump.thermostat. Cylinder head. Feeling slightly light head at the cost of everything. But the bores on the engine at 200.000km look like new which was nice.missfixit70 wrote:No worries , make sure you know how to bleed it ok if you're doing it yourself. Was rad ok? May well need replacing if it's not been done recently, I know it's more expense, but if it's silted up, it won't be cooling properly.

Hi Kirsty thanks for the heads up on temperature sender. Quick question. I was always led to believe the sender should alway be a grey colour. AVA have sent a green one. Typicaly they are not answering the phone. Am i safe to take my greens .

Did you ask for a Mazda sender unit, how much did they charge you.If the unit is green it will probably be a Intermotor or Denso costing about £10/15.
Cheers.
Re: Engine Temperature sender
Okay. Andy of AVA very kindly rang me back. Even tho he is off today to say he has a green one in his bongo. £10/15 I wish £37 mate and I paid next day postage on top. there is some serious Hang gliding to be done this weekend

Re: Engine Temperature sender
this fan switch is a very important part of the system, it controls the fans switching point, low and high speed, the temp sending info via the ecu for the glow plugs, and the cold start solenoids.
in my opinion this is too important a part to be trusted to a copy part, especially when the original mazdapart is the same money.
but its your new head.im not sying this copy is no good, but why take the chance.

Good idea, they are on here for £9.00 each, you would get them a bit cheaper for a bulk buy.mikexgough wrote:The Mazda one is a Denso 179700 0220, bagged and labelled up as Mazda O.E... now in... Re: Engine Temperature sender
From the manual if you test it in a pan of water-
at 20 degrees c the resistance across the terminals should be 2.3 -2.6 kilo ohms
at 80 degrees c the resistance across the terminals should be 0.29 - 0.34 kilo ohms
