Baby Seat: Maxi-Cosi Easybase 2? Babyseat

Post by GICarey » Fri Dec 31, 2010 10:06 pm

Hi All,

We're due our first baby in May of this year, and so have started looking into car seats, etc. Quite keen on the type of seat where you connect in a plastic base, and then "clip" the actual seat onto / off of it as necessary, so you can avoid waking the baby if it's sleeping when you arrive at your destination.

Saw, today, the "Maxi-Cosi" CabrioFix with the Easybase 2 "docking" bit. Which looked good, though (being an import) the Bongo isn't listed as a suitable car.

So, I wondered, if anyone had any experience of this, or any other similar baby seats in the Bongo, and could comment on fit?

Thanks muchly!

Gavin.

Should have said - plan is to use the middle sliding bench seat, as the two "gull-wing" rear-most seats are generally in use by Barney, our 8 stone lump of a dog (with dog guard suitably placed between him and the bench.

a thing we found with imports generally was that the seat belts are very short in length.we had a lucida they were very short.the bongo is the same.
we have three girls and have struggled with the multi seat thing. just make sure the belts are long enough for the seat you chose.

lots of cars aren't listed. Go to Halfords and ask them to fit it and see. Halfords may get a lot of grief for various things but they are unlikely to sell you a seat that will be dangerous, also pick a member of staff there that looks like they may have kids - not the sotty Saturday worker.......you don't have to buy from them though if you can find a better price elsewhere ;)

We used the Graco base that works with the Mothercare Travel System. They are brilliant and you don't need a really long seat belt as others have mentioned is a problem for the rear facing seats.

We have a 4 month baby, and a tin top V6 Bongo unconverted so we have the 8 person seat arrangement. We use a MAMA'S and PAPA'S clip in clip out system, and just put the base on the first row of seats. The seat belt fits around the base unit with no problems, and thus far the system has worked fine. Got the whole thing second hand on EBAY for 25.00, including the base and the carry unit. The other great thing about the Bongo, we don't even have to collapse the pram, just put the whole thing in the back of the bongo - Bongo's rock for a family!

For what it's worth, our baby (Oscar) has arrived, and is comfortably & safely transported in the Bongo (camper top) in a MaxiCosi CabrioFIX held into the car using the EasyBase2 (would work just as well without).
