In the beginning there was nothing , then God said "Let there be Light".....There was still nothing , but ,by crikey, you could see it better.

Ah ha! You are an absolute star!! It did look like it could have been some sort of bypass fuse? But it all makes sense now...corblimey wrote:Unfortunately it's not a flux capacitor..... it's a T.P.S.C.R or Throttle Position Sensor Compensation Resistor for short.
I can head off to the bash & sleep nights... Though with all this messin' i haven't had time to wash the van!
Cheers!
Just one thing.. What would the symptom be if it broke?? (My van works fine!)
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

I'm guessing here because I don't know but I reckon you'd see the gearbox shifts happen either earlier or later.
Re: Lurking behind fuel pump.?
So, the next question is "Do they come in different values?"
If so, it's got to be a better way of altering the gear change point than by fiddling around with the TPS itself and not being able to recover the original setting if you get it wrong.
When I get time I will have a look and see if mine is also a 948 no 4.
Maybe it would work better with a 948 no 3 or perhaps a 947 no 4.

Re: Lurking behind fuel pump.?
The only part I reckon it could be is the "Dropper Resistor" this appears to feed a reduced voltage to the ATF solenoids etc its on the connector B2-20 below, can you confirm the wire colours as being a Red with White stripe and a Blue with Orange stripe ?;
The connector for it is shown as being here, on the passenger side ?
are you at the Bash Jaylee ?
The above item seems to be here on the Lush Diagrams 18-831 http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... o=.html#13
Not sure that this is the same component to be honest but there is nothing in the wiring diagrams about a TPSCR either !

Re: Lurking behind fuel pump.?
Pretty sure it's your TPSCR. Finally got round to digging out my workshop manual last night and if it's connected to your FIP loom connector on pins D & E then I'm certain.
FIP = fuel injection pump. That's the manual's TLA (three letter abreviation) not mine

You mean Three Letter Acronym (not abbreviation)corblimey wrote:FIP = fuel injection pump. That's the manual's TLA (three letter abreviation) not mine

Re: Lurking behind fuel pump.?
Interesting that they don't show the fuel pump of the diesel on the wiring diagram, unless I'm going blind with all this travel!
What pins on the ECU does this FIP loom connect to does it say in the workshop manual?
Jaylee, OK not too surprising with the wire colours, as it didn't seem to be located in the right place.

Re: Lurking behind fuel pump.?
Just found the bit on Lush...
Top left corner with the star above it, is the bit that runs off the loom, connects to part 13-1552 http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... o=.html#33
