Whine from DVD

Post by Umbongo » Mon Oct 09, 2006 8:35 pm

I got a DVD, screen and new stereo fitted last week. When playing a DVD there is some sound interference and a whine that increases as the revs rise.

I'm sure I've had that problem in an old car years ago but I can't remember the cause.

Any ideas how to fix it?

The toys were fitted professionally but they couldn't make it go away.

You need a suppresor. Can be bought cheaply from halfrauds or similar, normally fit inline on a feed wire cuts down on interference signals from electronicky bits and bobs. Either that try a different supply from an alternative source.

Hi Umbongo, ChrisEm is right about the suppresor you could also fit it to the alternator.

What you have is an earth loop,

a surpressor may help cover it up, but you could well be getting interference into some of your cabling from poor conections, somthing shorting to earth that should not be getting an earth

have a look on here,

Thanks for the suggestions guys

All my stuff is powered from the leisure battery, does that make a difference?

Doesn't make any difference, just shows you where to look for possible faults

Look into the equipment and check the earthing as a starting point
