NO last resort, i could be something so simple, you could easily get robbed silly for a simple fix.

have you checked your fusebox to see if they are all ok ?,

dirty contact on the a/c button ?,

try to listen for any relays clicking etc when you turn it on/off,

also air-con pumps can have a plate on the pump just behind the pully wheel that you can see move and engage with a click when you turn it on/off, not sure if the bongo's one opperates in this way but worth checking because they can seize up and be resolved with a good whack ( turn engine off though first though )

check these things first and if nothing obvious appears then consider getting a service & re-gas

Checked fuses all seem ok.. had a re gas about two years ago not sure how often it should need doing.

go direct to source, get passenger seat out of the way and look directly at the pump, when you push the button you'll see the clutch engage and then you'll know if your system is working or not, then get stuck into the possible causes.

Where am i looking for pump. passenger seat up but not quite sure what i am looking at.

you can see alternator with 2 belts

to the left at low level is the a/c with the third belt of main engine pulleys powering it

Ok cant see anything moving behind pulley on pump. Difficult to see anything other than pulley that can move. Feeling body of pump cant feel anythig happening when tuning air con on and off

is it manual air-con or climate ?

because

if its climate there could be a problem with the pcb/electrical etc in the unit ?

or

if it's manual does the little green or orange light come on in the switch ?, cant remember what colour it is

if it doesn't it may help narrow it down to an electrical fault, rather than a nasty mechanical one

yes ours is climate. Air con looks like its working everything on unit looks right just that radiator fans dont come on.

this link might help you with what to look for with the compressor when you switch the a/c on and off ( not a bongo but same basics ).

i know you are saying the problem is the radiator fan but i should imagine if the compressor doesn't kick in the fans would not run either

Nothing moving on our compressor.

sadly looks like no easy fix then, seems the only other option is air-con specialist for a diagnosis/service/re-gas
