Water in light...... help!

Post by Dizzy-Dots » Tue Jan 11, 2011 3:19 pm

I've got to take Jonnie for his MOT, but there's water in his passenger side side light/indicator, which causes the indicator and side light to work when it feels like it :? so obviously, he won't get his pass certificate with this problem..... :(

The glass of the light was cracked about a year ago by someone bumping Jonnie when he was parked in a carpark....which is leaking now and letting the water in.....

I really don't want to ask the ar$ehole how to fix it, so can anyone point me in the right direction please? Should I replace the light? and if so, where do I get one? :?

Sorry for being a complete girl!

You probably need to replace it, and someone like Bongobits (or maybe ebygum if he still has one on his breaking Bongo) should be able to oblige with a 2nd hand one. Not especially difficult ot change if you can find a helpful local Bongo owner (or the garage could do it - its only basic stuff).

Good luck

Probably too late now you have ordered a light, but I have had very good results with Capt Tolleys Creeping Crack Remedy on a cracked Bongo rear light. This seals cracks in plastic, fibreglass, glass, concrete almost anything. It gives a completely watertight seal and is permanent. It's a liquid that is trickled into the crack until it is sealed. After about half an hour it dries clear and other layers can be added if necessary till all is fixed.

As well as the Bongo I have used it on a stone chip on my caravan window. Again total success. Mine came from towability, but most caravan shops or ships chandlers stock it. At £6.99 it is a lot cheaper than a new lens. I dried out the interior of the light where there was some condensation and all is fine. This was two years and two MOT's ago, no further problems. =D>

Hi
I second that on the Captain Tolleys...I've used it a few times over the years on caravans....currently on a rear light lens on the Bongo, until I send for a new one...and sealing the washer jets to the bodywork....TOP STUFF
Cheers
Helen
In the beginning there was nothing , then God said "Let there be Light".....There was still nothing , but ,by crikey, you could see it better.
