Re: aircon stopped working
First stop might be Kwikfit, where they reckon to check/refill your aircon but not charge you if the machine finds the aircon system has a leak. See what happens when you do that then we can talk about what to do next (there has been another aircon thread like this very recently so have a search of that also). PS - You could try asking Kwikfit where they think the leak is (if they say it has one) and/or how best to determine the location and fix it.

Re: aircon stopped working
to check if the compressor is okay..... unclip the brown connector on top of the drier bottle (just behind the radiator grill by the front radiator - its about the size/shape as a can of Red Bull) short it cross inside the connector with some wire.....fire up the Aircon and the fans should engage..... if that is the case...... you need a regas...

Re: aircon stopped working
Just picked my Bongo up after a four day drydocking to get the air con fixed after it broke last August - replaced the compressor (Grateful Thanks to You've Been Bongo'd).
Mine announced it's demise under a huge cloud of fumes after a not particularly loud bang which also incuded a melted and broken fan belt.
Lessson learnt - keep it regularly used and I'll include a check as part of the main service. The guys that repaired it commented on the size of the system (I think they had a surprise at finding a "double" system) and the quantity of gas it needed (which cost £110 +£10 for oil) - now to keep my fingers crossed that it holds the gas.............................
Good luck Cliff - not sure I can add to the advice already passed on.
Cheers

Absolutely clueless.
You'll be amazed what they don't know.

Still no progress.
