MGCaravans in Hertford recently serviced and fitted a split charge relay to my beloved (and wired/rerouted several bits up to it), was already a 2 battery baby so not too much work to do {I thought} and I already had the leisure battery..... ended up costing me £500!! felt very expensive and they only managed to wire one side of the elec blinds too, so in summary, expensive in my opinion and not the greatest quality.
There's also a garage in Ware which sells imported vehicles and always has a few Bongos on his forcourt, no idea whether he's any good but the prices look okay and they do servicing, maybe I'll use them soon? will keep you posted (I think they break too so may be a cheap source for some hard to get parts??)

Something strange just happened so if this comes out twice it's
out of my control! :? (Page came over all B.B.C.!!!)

Given up on previous garage  and now go to Mo's Motors in
Fenstanton. They are very friendly and accommodating and it is
so nice to be treated courteously. Had work done twice now and
very happy with it. They were horrified when they saw the parts
prices from Mazda and readily agreed for me get the parts from Ian -
thank you kind sir, most appreciated :D - . They arrived within 2
days and I've just picked Ollie up all better! Cost half the amount!

The garage in Ware selling Bongos that you refer to is Redhouse Garage, and is listed in the members area. I live very close to them, and when I went to them to ask about servicing, they said they only do ones they have sold. However, I don't actually think they even do that, as the garage I use, which is Autocare in Ware, say that they do servicing for Redhouse. I have found them to be very reasonable and well familiar with Bongos.

Don't know if Melton Mowbray is within reach but we use BCI Autocare they are really good.
But being in never never land between all regions we have to try and pass on the good word. We know there are half a dozen Bongos in Melton - not sure if they are BF members.

Anyone know anywhere in Peterborough. to get RECCOMMEND a MOT

The Garage we have been going to Specialist Automotive Services for over the last 5 years says its not worth his time taking it for an MOT then service as it nearly always passes :D and he cant make enough Money out of the Bongo  , and the credit crunch is biting into his profits.

I did recommend him on this forum so if you go there please be advised that this year to look for a new place. for an MOT although he will still service.

Theres loyal customer service for you.

Hi all,
I have seen some good comments about the guys at AL Motors and can conform they do a good job.
However the guy who used to own AL Motors (Lac) has moved on and will be running a garage in Hatfield Peverel just off the A12 which does it's own MOT tests.
May be easier to find than the site at Queenborough Lane.
Lac is a real Bongo expert having looked after mine for seven years.
There is not much he doesn't know about them.
When I get the full Name and Address and phone number of the garage I will post it on here and let Ian know.

Hi All,
Ian has put Lac's (from AL Motors) new garage on the database.
It is MOT & Service Centre, The Street, Hatfield Peverel, Essex, CM3 2EQ.
Telephone, 01245 382766.
Very easy to find just off the A12.
Lac and the lads there have already done some work on my Bongo and I am very happy with the result.
Hope this helps.
Johnny Bee.

Mo's of Fenstanton still any good?

Post by alancopson » Sun Apr 17, 2011 9:16 pm

Hi All!

Mo's of Fenstanton still any good? The post was started some time ago.

Moved to just west of Cambridge back in November and am having trouble finding a reliable garage, even for an oil change.

My local KwikFit used to do it in Harrow, but in CB they won't touch a Bongo. Another national chain botched the job, literally leaving me trailing oil.

Only a couple of weeks ago, I went to a convenient local place to replace a hose. I've never been somewhere where they made so much effort to appear like they couldn't care less. Won't be going back!

Now, 2 weeks after having the hose replaced, my radiator's suffered a critical leak, the day before I was taking the family away camping

Any thoughts? They'll probably get some more work from me, if they fix the leak of course, as my rear wheel arches are on the way out.

Thanks in advance, as always.

All the best,
Al.

After a lot of searching, humming and hawing, I've finally bought a bongo that is making me ridiculously happy. I've joined up as a member and have been doing loads of research via the fact sheets and the forum to make sure I'm as clued up as I can be to make sure she keeps running sweetly. I've just fitted a towbar to take a bike rack and cater for my other passion of mountainbiking (no mountains round our way, hence the need for a bongo!). I've already done the obvious stuff of oil and filter changes, fitting a low coolant alarm, and am planning on adding an engine temperature sensor, changing the ATF and flushing the coolant system.
But I'm looking for a clued up garage on the Newmarket side of Cambridge. The database mentions one in Thetford, which wouldn't be too hard to get to. Has anyone used it recently? Or does anyone have other suggestions in the Newmarket/Mildenhall/Brandon area?

Thanks

Mike!

I thought I'd already replied... so sorry for not saying thank you sooner... so Thank You!

Mo's were great... even if they did have to replace the cylinder header! All the staff there were very friendly. Oddly, they seemed to be expecting me... hmmm...

The van runs much better now and has given-up losing coolant.

I also took my old MX5 there to fix a coolant problem. I hope to take both vehicles there for their upcoming MOTs.

Thanks again!

All the best,
Al.

ps. sorry, don't know any other Bongo-Friendly places around CB. Good luck in the hunt.
