A leak in the sun !

Post by Rummager » Wed Jul 29, 2009 12:02 pm

Hello all, im hoping someone can put my mind at ease! We are currently in Miami Playa about 2 hours south of Barcelona,we drove down on friday and the trusty Bongo was faultless! However i drove it earlier today with no problems but as i just went to the fridge to get another ice cold beer i happened to glance out of the door and to my horror i saw a small puddle under the bongo about halfway along on the drivers side, I have looked underneath and it seems to be dripping from a small stub pipe? now im hoping this is some sort of drain, air con perhaps as i did have it on full earlier but if it is should it still drip 2 hours later?
Thanks.

Does it appear to be coming from below where you rear passenger heater controls are?

As long as you keep an eye on your coolant level (every morning) I wouldn't worry about it

Mine did that in the hot weather with the rear aircon switched on.
Aircon drain.

It's difficult not to worry isn't it? After all the stories you read on here, it can make you paranoid!! I've mastered the art of driving with one eye on the road and the other permanently on the temp gauge...whilst my left ear is listening for a bubbling expansion tank!! :)

Warm and yellow - buy a new Porta Potti. Well, you did say "a leak in the sun". Try to pop behind a hedge myself.

Hi again, thanks for all the help and reassurance, i have played around with the air con and i am now happy that is what it is! i did change the hoses to silicon ones, flush the system and install a low coolant alarm before we left so fingers crossed i will make it back to blighty in a couple of weeks without any disasters.
Regards
