Bongo Summer Camp: Hayling Island 16 to 20 July

Re: Bongo Summer Camp: Hayling Island 16 to 20 July
Quite enjoyed the meet, despite the weather not being very agreeable. Thouroughly enjoyed the visit to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard on Saturday. Good to see the regulars and meet a few new Bongo aficionados. Many thanks to Ian & Marianne and co for the, as ever, excellent arrangements and choice of camping site
. See you all at the Welch
 .

Hi Guys
Just got back from the Summer Camp at Hayling Island - wow, what a great time

The site is in a great spot - yes, the creek is just behind the Bongos in some of the pix already posted. Nearby shops friendly, the chippie on the East end of the front served enormous & tasty portions, and Portsmouth is only 25 mins drive away, so the other half managed to get in some retail therapy. (Emma is also a windsurfer, but knows her limits - which the weekend's weather exceeded by far:shock: )
As a keen windsurfer, I hava sailed at Hayling loads of times in the past, but it's an 85-mile trip, & the wind can be fickle

Hence, I loved the idea of being on hand, & I was hoping for a bit of wind

Taking the Mother & Father-in-law to help with the very littl'uns meant I could use the huge winds on Saturday & today (Monday), & I had a really EPIC day on Saturday

Thanks to Ian & Marianne for setting it up, & it was great to see the regulars/usual suspects - you know who you are

Our next will be at Looe in September, unless the Chilterns group pull another out of the bag.
See you in Cornwall???

Re: Bongo Summer Camp: Hayling Island 16 to 20 July - Pictures
OK folks, Just got back from our travels after the Summer Camp so thought I'd better put the pictures up !
First a link to the Spherical Panorama ..

- for those who haven't seen them before use your Mouse to Click and move the image around and also the wheel or Shift/Ctrl to Zoom in and out.
- for added fun I've hot linked every Bongo to a photo of the setup as well just click the little link Icon when it appears under the mouse
- if people want to have their personal names or forums names in the title that pops up let me know what you want to appear and which image number.
Can you spot the Bongo that got lost ?
Also some other photo's after the rain ....

Hi Geoff,
Great pics, I like the ones with the bongo reflection in the rainwater, I remember watching you takiing them and am glad to see you got some decent results.
You could put a tag on the spherical vision. I am Bongo No 7 and if you added Tony & Chris Dodds I would be really pleased to see my name up in lights.
As for the lost Bongo, the one across the creek, he was there when we arrived and I just wondered if he put his roof up as a form of greeting.
Thanks again for the pics

Hi Ginge, OK your names are up. Yes the "lost" Bongo owners I think came around in the afternoon and had a look around.
The reflection photo's are always a bit of fun, trouble is the bending down
I'll have to start carrying a kneeler,or wear knee pads I think

Hi Manny, not sure what happened there as it was only about an hour after the Pano that I took off round the site taking all the individual shots but some how I seem to have missed out on you - you didn't pop out perhaps it was Thursday afternoon ?

At last, home from the sunny south. We had a good time at Hayling and it was so good to see you all again. Apart from some clouds and strong winds; bloody cider, we were able to get out and about to see the sights.

A little cloudy.

The evening of Cygnet twirling thwarted!

Protective parents.

Graham mended the puncture.

Press Gang.

Impregnable! No doubt.

Camping with style. (our Norwegian neighbour's tent)
A few more pictures to follow.

Lots of activity, apart from the pub. Roll on opening time!

Another bit of cloud.

Even the mud flats look good in the sun.

I wonder what father had to say to Mrs Coot?

Seagulls over Fishery Creek.
Here's to the next one, see you there.
