heater fan resistor

After having my fan seize and burn out the resistor I paid a trip to my mates scrap yard to see what donors could be used. Found two that were suitable for minor modification one from a Suzuki baleno and one from a kia sportage

The main differences being the mounting holes are on the wrong sides and the kia one has a bigger heat sink. however I tried them both and had full function on the heater fan control (after stripping and cleaning motor). I used the suzuki one and just removed the mounting lugs and cut grooves where the new mountings would be and fitted it.

, great info Richard, I take it by the looks of it yours is the maual type and climate type?dont suppose your mate can get hold of a Peugeot 208 heater motor?

Weve been told this will fit the bongo but no one has comfirmd it yet?, maybe worth asking just to check for future reference

Mine is the manual type heating system. Was looking at a fan from something else not 208 will do some investigating.

Superb bit of info, i have spent ages today at our local breakers yard getting the same thing off a damaged astra for my sons astra estate, fixed now and fan works on all four four speeds, what a job, I ;love pottering around scrap yards but the astra I worked on today, although it had a passenger air bag which had been deployed still had an impact breakage on the windscreen from what I can only assume from my former accident investigation work as head impact, there were traces of blood ( which should have been removed prior to sale) which points toward the passenger not wearing the seatbelt, I sat in the seat and although being six foot tall I matched the damage to my head on the screen, such a shame I can only hope the person was not badly hurt but to break a screen with the head is not good.

have today found some near replacement fans, not a simple bolt in but all the internal bits useable, only bit from bongo one is the case and magnets. two screws and one nut and it all just pulls out tried it today and they worked fine.


the one on the left is Bongo ,will be investigating another couple soon which look more promising. as for peugeot one fitting havent found anything even similar in one yet.
