How good is 'Radweld' ?

Help/advice needed please peeps.
Coolant loss

After the first week of owning my new tintop i had a little loss of coolant via
a little puddle on the road.It stopped.......yippee !
Now its started again
Took the family out on sunday,4 adults,1 10 year old and our 7 month old,very hot day,
Cornish hills and loaded down with fathers day picnics.All fine till next morn,usual little puddle.
Since then its 'drip drip' 'till about 30 mins after driving when it stops.I could get a new rad from
a donor Bongo but that could prove just as bad,a new rad is outta my pocket at the mo.
I can see where its dripping from (not the hoses !),small bottom side plastic screws,i'll clamber under her
tomorrow to find out more.Have had no probs whatsoever before (well,my 'drip drip' oil leak excluded).
My question (i've used it before to):
How good is Radweld ?
Prob not industrial enough i guess.

Pah,i jus' love hot days when i'm a 'drip-drip'in' along

Radweld is I think a bit iffy, may block the rad or something as well.

Are you sure this is a coolant leak though. If you have been using the air con you get a condensation drip underneath.

Best not to drive it until you are sure its not a leak

IMO, so long as the radiator is not partially blocked (ie. was working fine and keeoing the engine at correct temp) and your coolant is clean and in good condition, Radweld is fine and I have had some good long-term results with it. You may want to flush the system through before applying it though unless of course it has been recently done.

I put Radweld in my Mondeo well over a year ago & it's still not leaking -----but i do'nt think i'd put it in the Bongo except for emergencies--with coolant & overheating issues that the Bongo seems to have
In the Mondeo the leak was quite bad every morning --quite a puddle --one tin of Radweld & same as i say it's never leaked since

Defo coolant,i tasted it ! Had the a/c idea but i never put it on
and you can see where its dripping from (bottom edges of either side).

Double Radweld for a bit maybe

Do a google search for radweld problems first

lift the drivers seat and check the top hose on the block as this may have a pin hole in it

AFAIK, Radweld is great as a "get you home" fix but coats each surface of the plumbing system with a thick layer of goo to prevent leaks.

This is somewhat akin to the build up on arteries just before a heart attack as it reduces the bore available for the fluid to flow through.

A double dose may well prove terminal in more ways than one on a tricky plumbing system.

Any thoughts?
