"HOLD" light and starting problems

Post by georgio51 » Tue Jun 16, 2009 12:48 pm

Can anyone tell me the meaning of the "HOLD" light on the dashboard and does this have any connection with starting problems I am experiencing?

Hi if the hold light is permanantly on....look at your auto gear selector and you will see a "button" on the "stalk.....Push this HOLD button and the light should go off...it's used to hold a gear when going up/down hills....never use it myself....easy to press by mistake

Sounds like you have a naff glow plug, hard to say :? normally with the hold light (flashing) and rough starting means either 1 or a all or a few of the glow plugs are shot.

search for hold light or glow plug problems in the search and loads of info will come up

when you try to start.....wait till the glow light goes out then wait another 5 secs (after it's out) the glow plugs will still be glowing even though the dash light is out....if this fixes the problem then it is probably a couple of duff plugs...replace them all with good quality plugs.
