I fitted roof bars and the roof alarm is now constantly on, the roof seems to be raising/lowering ok
I loosened the bolts in case they were too long and pushing the roof up a bit, but no difference
Anybody got suggestions?

Re: Roof alarm
Hi, Try this link. http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... ensor+roof . I also read somewhere, that it can be the little screws that hold the contacts(sensor) that had worked loose, so try tightening them. I'm not really a Technie, but hope that helps for now.

Re: Roof alarm
I checked the switches in the roof and the noise does not stop when I press them in all the way
reading the posts on the microswitches on the roof, it may be a different alarm, its very high pitched
but not too loud and doesnt go off when I take the key out of the ignition.
Its not the intermittent beeping you get when you raise lower the roof.
Im going away in the Bongo tomorrow for a couple of weeks so unless I can get to the bottom ot this
guess I will have to disconnect the battery to get a decent nights kip and turn the stereo up fully blast when driving!!!!

Re: Roof alarm
Found it , it wasnt the Bongo!!!!!!!!!!
I was away at the weekend and just got round to clearing out before loading up again
and I had a portable power pack under the seats , I took it out to recharge it and it
was in an alarm state!!!
Just typical it started up at almost the same time as the roof bars went on!!!
cheers

hahaha
had the same happen to me the day I picked up the bongo. Loaded up for a camping trip, got in and heard this continuous high pitched alarm noise...
I barely knew where the handbrake was, let alone what alarms and beeps it made, so was a bit stressed! - it doesn't help when your OH is asking such useful questions as:
"What IS it then?", "why would it be making that noise?", "Where's it coming from?" etc etc etc!!! - while giving you the look that says "I knew those people we bought this from looked dodgy, I bet this thing is going to turn out to be a right lemon and it will be your fault we've blown all that cash when we had a perfectly good VW which, in my opinion you GAVE AWAY"!!!
Anyway, after about 15 minutes of getting no-where it turned out my son's "TwentyQ" thing had a low battery and was just letting us know!!
.... and what did he say? "oh it was making that noise when I put it in my bag, but I thought it would stop...."

I think it has happened to everyone! It's usually a low battery. I have had the house upside down in the past trying to trace beeps etc and it usually turns out to be a phone or one of those gadgets the youngsters use
