this is defiantly positively the next job to be done,i have read and re-read dandy"s excellent post on this job but my hand will not fit down behind what i think is the egr pipe sooooo.....has anybody found a way around this...my first thought is to remove egr but before i get the spanners out...any ideas anyone?? as long as it doesnt involve putting pencils up your nose and putting yer pants on your head im ready to give it the old bongomaan try...... regards to all neil...

cheers mike i will look at this but have" put diet on hand" just incase and another thought whilst trying to source new rear lights i discovered a site in japan where you can buy rear lights for about 900 yen (£6.00) and am now acquiring some Japanese friends on facebook.......regards neil....

Yep been there and done it. You can get your hand in from the back, can't remember if I removed anything else than the skin on my hand but it is doable.................good luck.

I think smaller hands would be useful, Now teaching SWMBO who happens to have hands as small as my 10 year old .... so when the time comes.....I will have coerced her into being a "willing" assistant for the difficult to reach part of the operation and as I have Rheumatoid Arthritis in my hands, my flexibility will be an excuse
She helps me with bit's n bobs that are tricky to get to already, I do the tightening up......

Now if only I could get her to do a seal changing service/workshop at the Bash......

Don't do it!! (unless you are young, with a good back and expert small hands).

I tried this job (and I'm not bad with my hands, though getting older now, and they aren't tiny hands either). My back couldn't cope with bending over whilst trying to get to grips with undoing the blindside bolts. The only thing I succeeded in doing was my back - 1 week off work as a result.

got to be one done mike there is no way i am paying some spanner monkey £50/60 to do this job... ps there is nobody around here i trust with my pride and joy,it went to one "recomended" garage when i got ti and they tried to shaft me for £140 for work i know was done......

Quite understand and good luck - exactly why I had a go. Maybe forewarned, you will be fine. A scuba diver mate of mine said a lot of them go to Wickes and buy those waist strapping belts that builders sometimes use, as it helps them avoid back troubles from lifting heavy tanks. If I'd done that then maybe I'd have been OK. Horrible job though - not going there again!
