windscreen heater not working?

Post by beasd mr Friendee » Fri Feb 06, 2009 8:53 pm

Hi, we bought a petrol v6 s reg from the nequay dealers, sadly it's turning out to be a bit of a turkey.
We have during the winter and just after the warentee ran out, discovered that the windscreen heater doesn't work, not sure that it did when we bought it, one of the many things we didn't check, doh!

Anyhoo, the rest of the air con and heating does work there's just no air movement or flo from the windscreen vents at all so no heat either. this means when we are full with children etc it's the old steamy window scenario, rubbing furiously with sleeves etc muttering under our breath.......

Sorry to be at the bottom of the heap in terms of techie knowledge but basically know nothing, am i not pressing something vital or is it obvious what this problem is to those of you who are mechanically minded?

If it should be blowing & it's not, sounds like the linkages in the drivers footwell may be broken or come adrift, seems to be a common issue, should be easy to see & fix, loads of threads on it. Sounds like you need to get to a meet & pick some brains, there's a meet in Wookey Holle at the end of feb, get yourself along :D

thanks kirsty,

where do you find out about 'meets' ?
And what happens at them?

Absolutely love our bongo, it's genius design and does everything we want it too, despite all the problems we have been having we are thrilled with it and love the idea of being in touch with other people who feel the same.

we'd like to meet up and come on one of the weekends at some point too.

So when we find these linkages, what do we do with them, will it be self explanitory or require some knowledge?

You will find like a minded, but diverse cross section of friendly people..
& no two Bongo's appear the same!!

The blower linkages will probably just require a bit reverse engineering..! :D

This may help http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... es#p260331 , there are loads more threads, if you use the search function, upper right on the screen, on say "front and linkage" or other similar combinations, always use and between each search word. You'll probably find the info to solve any other problems you've got without having to resort to a garage  . Don't forget there's the Bongo Clinic archives on the main site & the fact sheets in the members area.
To find the meets, check the "Fancy meeting up" section, or any of the local area sections. No two bongos are the same, no two meets are the same.
Dive on in, spends a few nights trawling the forums & you'll be an expert in no time

message to gina, i've sent you a private message, to retrieve it, login to the forum using your login name and password and then look at the top left of the screen where it says view private messages.
You should then be able to pick up your emails as a normal account.
cheers
