Wiring in front spotlights

Post by Seamus » Wed Sep 10, 2008 5:19 pm

I have just bought a 2nd hand bull bar complete with brackets and spotlights from 3,2,1 Away at a very reasonable price (he has more for sale if anybody is interested).

Everything fits perfectly too!

The only problem I have is with wiring in the spots, there are some spare wires coming from the loom near the front fogs with snap connectors that match those with the spots but they aren't live. Does anyone have experience with these, are they there for this purpose and awaiting me to find the other end to connect to a switch somewhere?

Do you have a spotlight/foglight switch on the dash?
do you have fogs if you have a switch?

Mazda seam to install standard most things including looms and just not connect whats missing :?

so I would guess you need to add a switch at one end and the lights at the other

It's not just Mazda that do this!! My missus used to work at Toyota (Building Cars!) and she said that the wiring loom is 99% the same in all cars because it's cheaper than producing a different loom for different models. All they do,is blank of the wires that aren't being used for eg. clock, power windows, sunroof etc,but they can be used at a later date if these "extras" are added! :) Hope that makes sense!! :? :)

I do have front fogs fitted and there are two switches, one puts the front fogs on, the other seems to isolate the fronts from the rear fog. The cable colours from the loom that I think are for the spots are 1)red/green and 2)black.

What I need to know without having to start from scratch are these reserved for the spots and at the other end are they next to one of the blank switches, if so which one and which of the fuses is likely to be be in the circuit.
