Although I have had a quick look in the archive I cannot find a match for our problem.
We have Michelin Agilis tyres of the appropriate (odd) sizes.
We had a wheel wobble and the garage suggested it was a tyre fault as the tread was going a funny shape. The tyres are unevenly worn but still have loads of tread depth.
The tyre supplier says we have heeling and toeing ,probably because the tyres have been under inflated.We have been using 32/34. They were surprised it was not nearer 50psi! They called Michelin who could/would not advise as our vehicle is imported (arn't they all!).
I see other people have increased pressure over what the handbook says but wondered how we could safely do so.

On standard tyre sizes (4WD - no conversion) I use 40psi all round. Seems to work fine, with no abnormal wear showing in 6K miles.

Yes thats right on imports, I had a fine time trying to insure the Bongo when getting quotes before buying it. Down the local Mazda garage they said it was an import, Ha made me laugh. Their showroom was full of em.martin cross wrote:Hi

I possibly have the same problem AGAIN.
I posted ages ago about flat spots on my front tyres, while the depth of tread was perfect, although uneven. That post was deleted, but someone has had something simular not so long ago, and It looks like I going to have the same fault again.
Here in the middle of this thread is a picture of one of my old front tyres:-

Only last week, I got my wheels balanced due to wheel wobble, for the mechanic to say that there is a flat spot on one of my front tyres (again). I did also notice the road noise had been getting worse, but at least now the wobbles gone.
I would love to know whats causing this......
Mines a 4WD with was running @ around 40psi in all four. 195's on the front, and 215's (I think) on the rear.
Could having a unbalanced wheel for a length of time cause this?

Looks like either a faulty damper causing bounce and wearing or a viscous coupling problem brora

I try to keep mine as close to 40psi as poss.
Much better ride & saves the alloys from the West Yorkshire Pothole Knocks too!

Mine is a 4wd with about 80,000 miles.
The tyre specialist suggested worn shocks but there was no mention of this at the last MOT and they are usually good at pointing out impending problems.
