Auto Aircon Backlight Puzzle!

Not urgent, just a puzzle to me!

With the automatic aircon, there are a set of buttons along the bottom of the display. They control the fan speed, aircon on/econ/off, mode and rear control/display.

My puzzle is this... At night, with the side lights on, the buttons (and the rear screen heater button) are illuminated (or not ) depending on how the Bongo (Titan) feels. Some times they light up, sometimes not!

The I found if I pressed the temp up and down button a few times they would light up. Then not. Sometimes switching it on/off a few times - sometimes not! All the buttons in sequence - nope!

I can't see that it can be a loose connection as various buttons, a various number of times seems to do the trick.

Oh, and btw, at some stage they go off again!

Now I have more of less memorised the position of the buttons in the dark, but has anyone any experience of this - or is it just Titan testing me?!

Can't help with "why"

I think its just the bulbs nearing the end of their natural life, but mine did the same.

It is poss to replace the bulbs, there was a thread on here recently that covered it. Seemed a bit fiddly though.

But I picked up a second hand unit off Waycar8s poorly wreck & its fine now.


Any of the breakers on the homepage should be able to sort you one out for a few quid & only takes 5 minutes to slot in.

sounds like the bulb/holder may be loose,also on mine the channel that reflects the light was very dusty,once blown through(gently)the problem went away.
