Split Charge Relay

I'm about to do this next.
Already got a leisure battery, but wired in parallel, so I need to do it properly.
I've found all the guidance, but is this a good piece of kit?

I have a set up rather like that. Its OK but if I get a deep discharge (of the battery - honestly you lot!) the fuse blows due to the current the leisure battery pulls as it tries to recharge. If he is currently selling on ebay, a better bet is the kit done by Bongo owner willinton (ebay trading name). Just checked and he's not advertising them at present but you could send him a message from ebay and ask. His voltage sensing relay handles (I think) 70 Amps and (I'm told) there are no problems even with a deep discharge (shut up you lot)

PS - I carry jumpleads under the bonnet as a 'get me by' should I need to force a recharge of a badly discharged leisure battery. I also carry a box of spare fuses stuck to the top of the LB

Having learned the hard way, do it once and do it with a heavier duty set up.
The innards of their relay look similar to one I used, but had several burn out for not apparent reason.
Also as Mike has stated, a 30 amp relay will not handle a very flat leisure battery, so will blow fuses when trying to charge a flat leisure battery (which is quite likely given the sort of things we like to try to run---well Mike does anyway

).
Just ordered some from 'willinton' and he is getting them ready next week, so I wouldnt be surprised if some are advertised on ebay soon.

i got a decent 110 amp vsr kit from raw componants off ebay, very simple to fit and i know it will cope with the charge.

I also fitted a raw components kit. Everything needed included, clear instructions and diagrams plus a very helpful guy at the end of the phone to answer any queries. I was very apprehensive about fitting this myself but it was very srtaightforward and I saved £75!!

I have bought a 100a relay from Raw Components too, but for fitting a split-charge system on my boat, and I would recommend them. Very good service.

This is certainly the relay I would use if I were fitting a split charge to my Bongo.
