update york meeting 20th to 22nd july
Moderator: Jillygumbo
two sites are no go,s one too hilly the other maximum group booking is three. there may be possabilty of riverside one, but probably outside school hols and after pateley show day i will try to have a ride over there at the weekend,It says the river runs through it which could be a bit worrying not just for floods but kids, dogs, drunk adults etc
not sure how deep it is there.will keep looking.

Thanks to Dreamwarrior for organising the York do. Pity about the weather, would have liked to stay longer. Really enjoyed watching Wayne's face go red, purple and finally, very pale, whilst trying to blow up those balloons
Karena, if the site at Pately is the one near the town centre, we visited that a few weeks ago and it was very busy. Nice site, a little cramped and the river is fenced off and there were no worries with the kids. It is right next to the village play area.
The (non) information centre in Pateley Bridge were as much use as a bottle of mineral water in Wayne's bongo. When we visited, they wouldn't supply a list of local campsites due to public liability restrictions imposed upon them by NYCC. Even showed us the letter from the council saying this. Didn't want us to have any problems with dodgy hook ups and the like. Had a bit of a Victor Meldrew moment with them

was at middlesmoor just up from how stean gorge last weekend
which is east(i think) of pateley bridge by about 7 mile follow the road road stops your there,
pretty basic site but it is next to the pub and the landlord is a sound bloke
who don`t close the pub if you know what i mean
only problem i have with it is i was attacked by the fireplace in the pub and did me ankle in
so am wary about round 2 with it
cracking views though
maybe a thought

i quite often have meldrew moments with NYCC,and YDNP (same people different commitee corruption rife)
Middlesmoor sounds good to me How Stein Gorge is a great place to take the kids, (not toddlers) a bit of adventure where you get to wear a crash helmet but not too dangerous. having said that may be a bit too full of water at the moment. Light water valley is around 11 miles away theme park rides for kids and a large retail area. Weather permitting will try have a ride up there this weekend and sound the landlord out, if its the pub i,m thinking of i know his brother.
