That frickin drivers window switch
Does anybody know...... My passenger window up and downer on the drivers switch is broke. So is the 'on' switch.
However the switch in the passenger door is good.
Therefore if i cut and then join the orange and green wires in the drivers switch unit will i bypass the 'on' switch thus allowing the passenger window to be operated soley on the passenger door window switch????

There was someone who posted on this subject before saying that they could get them direct from Japan at about half the cost - might be worth a search for the post?
I'm assuming that its the switch that's broken not just loose? The guy who cleaned ours out said that the clips on the switches always break, ending up loose and that it wasn't worth replacing ours...

STOP......Don't do it!
I cut the wires today and it doesn't work...........however I had a sneaky look in a blokes 323 in the petrol station and it appears the 323 switch is the same!!
DO NOT try to repair yourself - unless your an electronic wizard. I took mine apart and a spring and ball bearing came out of, well I wish I knew!! And the wires that line up with the the solder on the board that line up with the various switches obviously don't correspond, otherwise my initial theory of bypassing the switch would have been correct!!
I will continue to try to get my passenger window to operate for less than £114!!............to be continued

Window switch
I think we got ours from a P reg 323 in a Newcastle scap yard, fits
perfectly and took Carole 2 mins to fix. Cost us £2.
When fitted the window worked and so did the central locking which
prior to fitting the window switch did not.

HELP- got a drivers door switch from a 323f (much newer than my N reg Bongo) looked identical under the trim etc, but no function at all!!
Does the year have to match?
Do Mazda change the internal gubbins but leave the switch the same?
I am pnning my hopes on it being the switch year as we go on a grand tour in a week or two and it would be great to have working windows!!

looking into it. there is still power to the unit and switch was dicky with door unmovrd (not moving the wires),
wondering if the "replacement" being 8 yrs newer cold be different internally?
I have one on the way which is from a 323 of the same age instead.
Will post results if different.

I had the same problem when I first got my Bongo
A friend of mine is a fork truck repair man (not that that makes any difference).
He cut all the wires going to the drivers switch leaving a good 2" of wire out of the plug then (with bullet contecters) swapped them ALL around (I.E. opposite to how they were).
This is the only way that the pasenger switch worked the drivers window (the passenger switch on the passenger side door still worked the passenger window).
I found this a good temporary fix until I was able to replace the switch (luckly under warranty).
If you need photos I don't mind opening mine up & doing some the weekend and posting.
Cheers
Steve
PS I think the 323 ones are the same and go straight in (But I have only got that from somewhere on this forum when I was looking).
