Bongo Fury

As a new owner of a bongo, i couldnt wait to get mine all cleaned up properly and get rid of the previous owners dirt lol as we all no the last few weeks have been horrible with the rain so i thought as today was supposed to be ok id crack on with it, turned out to be a battle with the weather but i soldiered on, i spent all morning doing the interior then all afternoon/evening doing the exterior i didnt finish until about 7.30ish so will try to get some nice pictures tomorrow to show of the shine hopefully in some sunlight as today was very cloudy.

heres the process and pictures.

Exterior:
Wash
Clayed - Meguiars Smooth Surface Clay.
Polish - Menzerna Final Finish P085rd with Rotary.
Glaze - 2 coats of Prima Amigo ( roof i used primo amigo and chemical guys xxx wax instead of a sealant )
Sealant - 2 coats of Wolfs Nano Body Wrap
Wax - Collinite 476 - didnt really need to do this but as there was a break in the rain i thought why not.

Interior: Chemicals from a highly regarded Trade Valeting Supplier local to me.
Damn Good Vac & Shampoo.

A Few Extras.

Need to build up a few layers of Paint flat back with wet n dry then buff. should do the trick.

Looking good......fancy doing the same to mine? but best to allow a weeks worth of work to get mine to that standard.

Great job looks new!...............sorry, but I am interested in the flip down TV device, can you tell me if this is fitted to the roof within the drivers part of the vehicle and if it is does it get in the way?

Its a very strange situation with cleaning the bongo, i will gladly spend hours washing polishing and tarting up the bongo , but when it comes to cleaning my car its a quick car wash drive through if its lucky .

yes mate its fitted to the roof within the drivers side il take a better picture tomorrow and put on here for you to see, it doesnt really get in the way when down but i dont use it whilst driving anyway so it just folds up to roof i installed it so it can work whilst driving and also work on 240v with a transformer ( ideal for when on holiday )

Thanks much indeed! I've been looking a while now as to what type of TV I should buy and fit I've seen this unit on Ebay but I'm always a bit sceptical about brands that are not well know .... are you satisfied regarding picture quality and overhaul operation of such ......... did you have to glue a support panel directly to the underside of the roof panel and then attach the unit through the headlining to this panel, this was what I intended to do but it may not be necessary (thinking about the weight) apart from that, I presume you've wired the unit to your audio phono's of your dash head unit for audio reproduction via the bongo's speaker...sorry about the questions !

That stoneguard is handy stuff, I used some recently on the swinging arm of my bike were the paint had got chipped away by stones.

i was abit sceptical with brands aswell but my budget couldnt allow me to pay for a top brand but i have a friend with a similar system which is pretty good and hes had it for 2 years with no problems so i was quite happy to buy the screen. Time will tell with the reliability of the player but if the dvd part fails i can always use it as a monitor.

the quality is fantastic its far better than what i was expecting its a nice crisp picture, it plays a variety of formats and has usb/sd card slots which comes in handy. its all been wired so i can play through the bongos speakers. Ive bolted a wooden support panel to the underside of the roof then attached the dvd to the wooden panel, its hardly made any marks to the roofline only a few screw hole size holes. i then added a plastic stoplock to try and tidy the wires up abit to make it look better. Im now toying with the idea of finding some material the same colour of the rooflining and making something to cover over the dvd player and velcro to the roof.

I agree the stone guard stuff is pretty damn good, its not that expensive either better than normal black paint.

Forgot to mention i used rubber grommits on the screws into the roof to create a water tight seal, then used a silicone seal on top for a bit extra protection i might add some caps to put over the top as at the minute you can just see the screw head.

Thanks for your response just one more question what thickness wood did you find appropriate between roof and roof panel?

mentaliss: i was misinformed it wasnt attached using wood, the actual base that comes with the dvd player was bolted directly to the roof. ive been informed by my friend who did this that between the roof lining and the actual roof theres only a small gap about 1/4 of a inch. i think he took pictures whilst doing it so il try and get the pics
