Re: intercooler. need to go big.
IMO there's a fine line between going bigger and causing turbo lag - something the Bongo engine doesn't really have
. A good clean out would do the world of difference as would taking off the inlet manifold and cleaning out all the goo

Re: intercooler. need to go big.
Size doesn't always matter it's how you use what you have..............
A free flowing well placed efficiently finned small intercooler will outperform a larger one that because of size has to be in a compromised position.
I'm happy with the power of my Bongo.........................But...............
If I wanted more power I would consider Injecting a small percentage of Methanol pre intercooler when boost got high, this would reduce charge temperature and provide a bigger BANG (technical term)...............

Re: intercooler. need to go big.
I'm having some welding done this week on my home brewed chargecooler setup, the amount of charge pipework will be much more than halved and the cooling efficiency increased many fold which should lead to reduced lag and better economy. Also much of the original pipework has a lot of twists and turns and some quite constrictive sections - the bend around the cam cover for example Will have to get some work in progress pics up. The set-up will include a different home built air box setup with a cool air feed.

New build thread with lots of pics please.

" it's not rocket surgery! "
Re: intercooler. need to go big.
think most benefits will come from reduction in charge system piping, but should be interesting!
Spent many a happy day playing with charge cooler setups on my RS turbos and Cossies. Theres a project, drop cosworth running gear into a bongo

Plenty of YouTube videos of earlier bongos with skyline engines
