Bongo Fury

Has any one fitted an after market rear parking sensor like this one ? http://www.parkingsensors.co.uk/nikkai_4r.asp

The power unit needs to be tagged to the 12v line of the reversing light so the power unit can be paced at the back looks quite simple - I was wondering the best route for the cable from the rear of the Bongy (interiro of rear light cluster area) to the underside of the rear bumber (how to basically exit the beast) and also the cable path from the rear power unit to the front of the Bongo for placement of the beepy thing.....Any ideas most welcome..

fitted one on my car, but not the bongo.....

but have fitted a towbar to the bongo.....

but can't advise you of a route between the inner wing and cabin, on my car I had to drill a 20mm hole and run the cables through a blind grommit, then wallopped silicone sealer over it (seam sealant would be better... but I hadn't got any)

with the bumper off though, there is an easy route to the back of the light cluster, if you remove the light, there is a big void behind and a hole at the bottom.

I found with the kit I fitted though, the buzzer and led display had to be fitted in the front, because it was quite quiet (I wasn't too worried about the display, so was going to leave the unit in the boot and use the sounder only. But ended up routing the cable through the car

Thanks John - cheers for the tip on the rear wing I will have a crack at the weekend....Im sure I will turn the air blue with some choice words for a few hours but will be worth it once its done!

I fed the cable in behind the rear light and into the grommet that the rear light uses to go into the van

A question for those that have fitted rear parking sensors; have you desabled the reversing bleeper? If not do you find that the bleeps from the reversing sensor are distinct from the reversing bleeps?

I have fitted reversing sensors.

I had disabled the standard reversing buzzer a long time ago (it now gives me low coolant alarm instead).

I took the power from the loom before it goes through the panel to the rear lights and fitted the controller in behind the rear panel trim below the rear cig lighter (accessed through the recessed cubby hole thingy).
The wires from the sensors I took up into the box section that runs behind the bumper and out where one of the trim guide posts goes for the plastic trim running across the van either side of the rear door catch. (The post had already broken off!) Then under the carpet and up behind the trim panel.

The display panel I decided to leave at the back of the van, clipped into the top of the trim panel rear near side corner. I usually turn round to see when I’m reversing even in the dark and so can see it clearly but I can also see it in the rear view mirror.
