Bulky items for sale: stainless steel side bars/Thule basket

Post by Simon Jones » Fri Jun 13, 2014 12:21 am

I've got some bulky items which I can bring to the Bash, but would prefer not to drag them along unless there is some interest. May also have some polished stainless steel tubular roof bars ready in time. Drop me a PM if you'd like more details.

The bars were custom made by a metalwork company in Yorkshire using heavy duty stainless steel rectangular box section. They have a brushed finish which is in bright clean condition with no dents, dings or corrosion. They will come with brand new stainless bolts, washers and anti-shake nuts. I've never seen any like these before so they are very much a one-off. Open to sensible offers.

Thule basket for use with EasyBase rack (not included). Brand new in wrapper complete with fixing bolts. Ideal for taking bags of garden rubbish to the tip without getting the van mucky. £25

Any takers? I've had a few enquiries & will be loading up the van tomorrow if anyone would like to see these at Stourport.

The side bars look like the 'tree sliders' I had on my disco? they weighed a ton!

well they'll be no need for lowering the bongo

I got a nice 32 mpg yesterday over 220 miles

so if they do weigh a hefty weight

as the dragon den states

im out :| lol

I cannot imagine they weigh any more or less than the round ones -- within a few kg,s that is

Well fitting them is a two person job to lift up to bolt them in and the help a two trolley jacks also. A bit like bolting two bags of spuds to each side. But as I said if anyone is stupid enough to drive into one, just sit back and watch their car fold up like a coke can

Unfortunately not. Mine has the Aero kit already fitted. I don't have the Van-X ones to compare them to so can't comment on relative weight, but they are a few Kgs each. I'll try to sneak them on to the bathroom scales tonight :)

Hi, no just got back. Was going to pop over to say hello but kept getting caught up with other folk. BTW, I weighed one and it's just over 8kg so it's no light weight flimsy piece of ally tubing.

I didn't bring any of the big stuff to the bash bits due to lack of confimed interest. Did buy some bits off George though :).
