Things to Consider When Choosing a Venue

To celebrate 10 years since the formation of the Bongo Fury owners club, Sunday 24th February 2013 has been designated as National Bongo Day. What we have in mind is a series of events in various locations across the UK & Ireland where Bongonauts can get to meet each other and perhaps have a Sunday lunch.

Things to Consider When Choosing a Venue

If you are thinking of organising an event for National Bongo Day, here are a few tips. None of this is compulsory.....

1) Source a venue for your meeting. Ideally there will be an open space where Bongos can be parked up for a few hours, and some kind of shelter in case of bad weather.
2) If the venue does not provide any refreshments, is there anywhere nearby that does?
3) Toilet facilities available? Disabled access?
4) You may wish to consider whether overnight parking is allowed at the venue, and perhaps if there are any electric hook ups.
5) Once you have decided on a suitable venue, you need to get permission from the landowner or manager. Explain what the event is all about etc. If necessary Bongo Mission Control can supply a covering letter.
6) A suggested start time for the event is 11am, with a finish at around 3pm.
7) Think about whether you want to have an organised activity such as a pub lunch, a walk, a team photo, or kiddies activities.
8) Once you have the venue booked post full details on the relavant section of the Bongo Forum. Post updates on the discussion regularly so it gets "bumped" to the top of the list.
9) Further publicity will also be placed in the next quarterly club newsletter (December).
