Coming home from the bash........

Post by Debs and David » Sun Jun 20, 2010 9:12 pm

Did anyone else that was travelling north today get stuck in that horrendous traffic jam on the M6, the motorway was closed betweeen junction 16 and 17. It took us 5 1/2 hours to get home instead of 2 1/2.

We had a great 1st bash though, everyone was really friendly, and we can put more faces to names now. Sorry if we seemed a bit anti-social in the evenings but I hadn't taken a jacket or anything to keep me warm. I was totally unprepared, clothes-wise and shoe-wise too, only had a pair of flip flops and my feet were freezing and wet most of the time!

A special thanks for Denise and Andy for taking us under their wing and making us feel welcome and the rest of the north west crew.

Will see you all next year, when we won't be such novices!!

Me & DBO held up a few cars on the A/B road route we took home... We opted out of the M6 route home simply because DBO was hauling a caravan, we had no idea about the hold up's

We went down the A449 last year, so on Friday we took the M6 - sat in traffic all the way :(

So coming home today we used A449 again, took about an hour and a half to get to Stafford including a detour drive through of to Bewdley.

We did reet grand coming up through Bridgnorth, Shifnal, and then to Audlem where we stopped and had a drink at the Shroppie Fly, next to the canal and locks. I can highly recommend routing by there and dropping in for a brief interlude if you are doing a journey in that area and looking for rest breaks of interest. However, after a pint of Timothy Taylors Landlord (beautifully kept - these guys like their beer and their live music), I forget to tell the Satnav that I did NOT want to go anywhere near the M6 and I realised too late that it had put me on the A500 towards it. After a wasted 30 mins in traffic jams approaching it, I recovered the situation and had a pleasant drive up the A50 to Knutsford and then home. Bongo was a pure delight to drive all the way of course, but especially on the open roads in beautiful country. 8)
