remembrance for dot at the bash.

Post by cabte » Mon Apr 26, 2010 10:37 pm

Hi all

Most of you know last year we set a few sky lanterns off at the bash.

Well this year we have lost a very special member of the Bongo community Alans wife Dot.
We will all miss her so much.
As a mark or remembrance this year i would like to make it very special

So Please ian can we have a 10 minute slot one evening with everyone round and set of SKY LANTERNS for dot.
Also as a mark or respect lets al put a little prayer on the lanterns

They are easy for sale on ebay
Lets get as many as we can
,, just to say

WE WILL MISS YOU X

I Have spoken to Alan and got his permision .

I think that's a lovely idea

I send balloons off to my Mam - I write little notes on them - silly I know, but it really helped me in the early days after losing her x

I'm sure it will be very moving

Good Call!!

=D>

Even those that can't make it to the Bash but still want to join in can launch some from their own gardens or wherever they happen to be around the same time on the Saturday night.

We could get the whole of the UK glowing.

On Saturday night the band will play 2 sets. There will be a break at about 9.30pm. Just before they come back on for their 2nd set, we will make an announcement (perhaps someone to say a few extra words?), and then release the lanterns!

As some of you know Dot & Alan and Trish and Harry (hatris) went away Dolphin watching,
She was so fond of dolphins.
Just spoken to another bongo member Chel xx she put the idea my way of doing somthing with dolphins.
So im going to make some small dolphin decals to put onto the lanterns.
anyone want any come see me at the bash

Nice thoughts.
I always buy a hundred of these lanterns to get me through the summer, so if you don't want to buy 20 at a time come see me and i will sell you one.

Ian, you may have to make a call at the time as these things can't be launched in windy conditions, they tip over and spill out some of the hot air causing them to descend, not really a good idea with a crowd and tents and stuff around. On a still evening or a light breeze going the right way they are perfectly safe. Maybe a demonstration beforehand too for those that have never used one to learn how to start them, and also for a tester on how it will fly before launching the lot...

I don't know if Alan will be going to the bash, too early for him to make that decision.
but if he does go, i think he should let the first one go in remembrance for Dot.

What a super idea and a way to remember Dot I only met her a couple of times but was glad to have met such a lovely person and feel that some mark of respect at the bash would be very fitting.
Be nice to everyone they might be nice back.

Come to the dark side we have chocolate dark chocolate
