I'm after a few sites along the west of England up to Scotla

Stayed at a good site? Or a really poor one? And what about wild camping? Put your comments here.

I'm after a few sites along the west of England up to Scotla

We're planning a bit of a journey and I'm looking for any personal recommendations for campsites. I'll list the sort of areas required below but can deviate a little from these.

Looking to spend no more than £10 per night for a family of 4 with a dog and awning. Probably only spending a couple of days at each site. Not too fussed about EHU unless it is cold!

We are members of the C&CC (just signed up)

We need places close to...

Windsor
Formby/Blackpool etc
North of the Lake District
Ayr

Then a few more places coming back down the west coast.

We already have a couple of places booked. We thought it would be nice to break the journey up and stay at a few different places - could even do a night or two wild camping if anyone can recommend any safe nice places.

Facility wise it'd be nice to have a shower at some of the sites, but not essential at every site and if desperate we can always find a swimming pool and use their facilities whilst taking the kids out swimming!

Thanks!

Use the C&CC sites they are an excellent and consistent standard between sites, especially the main club sites. The smaller CS listed sites are much more variable but often are nice because they are small and some have excellent views.

I think given the budget that we want to spend that it will be the smaller listed sites as the club sites are more than double what we want to spend per night really.

Was just hoping people would have some good recommendations of sites they had been to along that route.

If not I will use the siteseeker app and pluck a few names out and give it a go.

We're treating it as an adventure - should be good fun!

For wild camping I've had good results by looking for picnic areas on the road map then have a look on Google Earth.

Some even have toilets.

Looks good but probably a bit too far East.

Perfect - will give that a go for the return journey. Have 3 places booked so far, will give them a ring tomorrow. Then just need to find another couple!
