Please can anyone tell me the best way to transport bikes and blow up paddle boards on my Mazda bongo campervan? Anything that anyone has used that works with a roof that raises or with a tow bar would be appreciated ? Thank you in advance for you advice and support.
Jo

Hi Jo, and welcome aboard.

I use a Pendle bike rack, which has a bracket fitted on the tow bar, and it's own lights and reg plate. Really pleased with it.

No experience with boards, but a popular Forum member does, and will most likely help. :wink:

I use a roof rack for SuP's and ratchet/cam ties to hold it all in place;

Hello both , thank you ever so much that is really helpful. Can I ask with the roof rack, what sort do you use and do you have an elevating roof?
I also noticed on the back of your van you have a sliver box is that useful? I have been looking at those, quite expensive but wondered if they were worth it?
Many thanks
Jo
P.s also do you have an alarm or lock for your board? To keep it safe when away from the van / over night?

Also, the AFT (lift up roof) has 4 threaded fittings to take roof bars, also called ladder racks, so I would think your supplier will recommend something suitable.

More difficult if you're looking to buy used, of course.

The roof rack was a product from the Bongo Fury shop but is no longer available :-(
Details of the rack fixings and telescopic ladder here http://www.g8dhe.net/bongo_images/roof_bars-rack

The back box is the Thule system, yes expensive but still working well after 12+ years of heavy use!

I got a used Thule back box from a local salvage yard. This thing is very handy during camping and long trips.
