Hardstanding & groundsheets

Post by BernieBongo1955 » Tue Oct 22, 2019 1:12 pm

Afternoon Bongonauts!
Just a query about how do you protect sewn-in groundsheets (Outwell drive away) when camping on hardstandings. It seems that sometimes walking etc., on hardstanding/sharp chippings could damage the groundsheet. Just wondered what fellow campers did to prevent damage, (perhaps the answer is to have additional groundsheets beneath the sewn-in) Have I answered my own query ! #-o Thanks in anticipation.
Happy camping..... Paul

Yep, we used to put down some cheap tarp under our tent with sewn in sheet, then a rug or similar on the most heavily walked part.

Make sure the tarp is a bit smaller than the groundsheet otherwise you will get a build up of rain water between the two.

Good tip about avoiding the rain build-up Bob! Many years ago we came back to ours after torrential rain, to find our small dog floating in her plastic bed, on top of the bulging ground sheet. Like a hover-craft!
Allan's closed. We recommend PGS (Plymouth Garage Services) or Mayflower Auto Services in Plymouth.
