Hello all
I'm thinking of going for one of these sun canopies from funky leisure and was wondering if anyone one here has fitted one to a bongo ?
https://www.funkyleisure.co.uk/vw-type- ... 0412-p.asp

If so how do you find it in use and how did you attach it to the bongo ?
Ive contacted them and to be honest they where not very helpful , there trying to get me to attach a c channel to thr bongo , I'm not doing that if I can help it !
They also sell a pole and clamp system which seems more like what I'm after
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
Brian
P. S. thinking of the forest green to match the AFT canvas

Probably nothing in it save for the colour, but I went for the Khyam with the code works out £15-20 cheaper.

Yes I got the recommendation from yourself and very happy I am with it too. It works brilliantly and is basically invaluable now so thank you.

I've got the sides and front panels. With them on, there's no option to lower the two outside corners to let rain run off and they flap about as much as the roof does in wind. However, I have found them invaluable when it's really hot! You can put up whichever side you need to block the sun. I used the front panel only a lot last summer!

Also, the side panel nearest the passenger door prevents use of the door. So I use that section as the door to the awning, hooking it back onto the pole to open - means you can use the passenger door while it's open. Just a thought!

I get minimal flap from the canopy roof, the pegs supplied were useless, now use long 'nail' type tent pegs. with a short guy at 45 degress and also re threaded guy ropes as they seemed threaded incorrectly on the adjuster; so now have decent tension, prior that I was fairly miffed about the peformance.

I use rock pegs as standard but even at full tension, there's still some 'give' in the middle on either side of the centre. Have bought an Isabella Shadow sun canopy and will be trying this at the bash, although it doesn't have sides. It seems more durable and less flappy! All technical terms.

Do you have the 'uprated' model with the middle support/pole taller than the two sides?

Yes, I do, but it still flaps, and pools in anything more than a shower, unless the wind flaps the rain out of it! I usually lower to the two corners down to 2 pole sections, that stops the pooling and not the flapping! But of course you can't do this with the sides/front attached.

Hi - Jilly if you see this.

Did you find the Isabella Shadow to be good? Or do you think the Khyam Sun Canopy OK/better?

The least flappiest version would be best I think?

I want something simple and sturdy I can affix to my Figure-of-8 (purchased at the June Bongo Bash).

We use an Outwell Cruising Canopy. It's not cheap (about £150) but we have tried various solutions over the years and this is the best. It attaches with figure of 8s. We can put it up within 5 minutes unless it's very windy.

Once erected rain and wind present no problems. It it stored in a small holdall.

Here's a video from Outwell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_DTojkbO94

Thanks Ian, I'll take a look at the Outwell Cruise and the video you posted.

It has to be quickish and easyish to put up.

As I said, like others, I don't like the flapping noise some canopies make. Though obviously there will be some noise if its windy.

PM has been replied to about this. Horses for courses but I prefer the Isabella Shadow 240 because it doesn't flap.

Have now sold the Khyam with sides, have a Fiamma 45s Pro and use the Isabella as a sunshade attached to the Fiamma. Works very well!
