Heated Shower

Post by redrocket » Mon Mar 20, 2017 1:25 pm

Has anyone ever bought anything to make a heated shower, whether it be a solar shower, water heater or gas shower and have any reviews to share? Going to glastonbury this year and the queues for showers at any festival are notoriously long and never ending so now i have bought an awning , i plan to buy a shower tent to go inside it and have a shower of some kind in there and wondered what the best route to go down would be.

:o shower at glasto
There loads of showers there now
If you get your timing right no ques
After 3 or 4 days at glasto around a campfire you can smell the new arrivals or the freshly showered people in the ques
You will stand out if you shower
And it's fun to splash the people leaving he showers with mud :) or push them over
Them solar showers are fine real hot in the sunny weather
Gas safe heating engineer / plumber if you need any advice just shout.

Never tried one but it looks pretty cool!

I have a solar shower (black bag thingy) - if it's sunny you lay it flat for the day and it heats up, if it's dull you can put warm water in it - flow pretty rubbish, but it's ok for a freshen up. Personally, when we're on longer trips without campsites I use a bucket and a watering can!

I did read a blog where someone lived in their bongo for a year in Europe - he rigged up a shower curtain inside (using a hula hoop at the top), a big bucket at the bottom and then ran a pipe from the tap through a coil of copper piping over the gar ring and to a hand held shower head. Didn't sound too safe, but very ingenious!

A whole range on here - I've heard good things about the Kampa one, (but you'd want to at that price) - you'd need to be able to fit it in too.

I have an electric immersible that runs off a ciggie socket and works great. I have a collapsible bucket which i half fill with cold water and half with hot boiled in my biggest pan on the cooker. I attach showerhead to side of Bongo inside awning tunnel and stand in our old baby bath to catch grey water. Complete privacy and works a treat. Search Ebay Amazon etc for 12v showers.

Edit: Mine looks like this one.

If there's two if you (and you're close buddies) a watering can works well.

Almost fill it, add a kettle of boiling water, one pours when the other washes.

If you're frugal a can full will do you both. :)
